Pros and cons of a single page website

Single page websites are just that – literally a one page website that explains who you are, what you do and how to find you.

They are quick to produce, look good enough and are cost effective.

Should I create a single page website?

Take a step back, and lets ask a few other questions first:

  • Do you currently have ANYTHING at the moment?

They keyword here is anything. If you don’t have a web presence, then a Single Page Website is a great way to get something out there.  Something is always better than nothing. Perfect is the enemy of done.

Are your customers local?  Are you a brick & mortar business?

If you serve your local community – cafe, chiropractor, accountant or legal – then all of your potential customers are searching for professionals like you (physio, GP, personal trainer) or they are searching for you.

So far, its pretty obvious, a Single Page Website is the way to go. But what if…

What is your primary source of new customers?

How do new people find you? Or perhaps, if you could only choose one method, what would be the one way they find you?

Is it social (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn)? Referrals? Or is it Google?

The problem with only having one page as your website, is that its going to be tough for Google to recommend you. Plumbers in Bankstown, Electricians in Red Hill or Gardeners in St Kilda are fine. But if you offer quick tax returns for small business, financial advice for those in their 50’s or resume services for job seekers – that’s going to be much harder to achieve.

At this point, you might ask – who’s the best hosting for a single page website? There’s MILLIONS! Use Wix, Bluehost, Hostgator, Godaddy – it really doesn’t matter. Just go out there and create something amazing!

Stay awesome 😉
